My B-tech year 2015

Halooo..
My name is Rona-Celia Meyer and I am doing my B-tech in Interior Design at NMMU. The year is about discovering yourself, or that is how it feels to me. Designing something you like and doing it for a year can be challenging, but if it is something you love - it will always be worth it!

I am designing an Alzheimer's home, because I am a family orientated person and love to help people. Everything about people draws me in.. I hope to design a space where Alzheimer patients can be free to explore new things and create the optimal living environment...

Here is my process throughout the year...

Name Change...

As I mentioned previously my intended name was "Our Home"... I sat down for a crit with Lene (our design lecturer) and she felt that our home is to "strict" - if I can say it like that. I always wanted to have a more quirky name, some word play on the word Alzheimer's but I was scared it will be insensitive towards the patients and maybe even family or friends. Lene told me to go with my initial gut feeling and look at more playful names. My favourite one is "All Timers" which is my chosen name for my building now. "All Timers" is wordplay on Alzheimer's and Old Timers which means the elderly people. All Timers fits better with the theories I am using and with the overall feel I want for my space. The word makes me excited for my space now! The name and everything I aspire to do is now just blending better...

This is now my final logo... The round symbols suggests an abstract brain eventually fading out, which is what happens with Alzheimer patients - their memory fades away....
