Our first June portfolio submission is the theory treatise hand in on Tuesday... The rest of the week we have time to fix up computers and technology, because both those subject are due the week of the 8th of June. That is hectic, scary and nerve wrecking!
Luckily we have a few days open to finish our design for dry run as well as actual portfolio...
My B-tech year 2015
Halooo..
My name is Rona-Celia Meyer and I am doing my B-tech in Interior Design at NMMU. The year is about discovering yourself, or that is how it feels to me. Designing something you like and doing it for a year can be challenging, but if it is something you love - it will always be worth it!
I am designing an Alzheimer's home, because I am a family orientated person and love to help people. Everything about people draws me in.. I hope to design a space where Alzheimer patients can be free to explore new things and create the optimal living environment...
Here is my process throughout the year...

Theory Treatise Hand In..
The weekend has been all about theory... Our treatise document is due on the 2nd of June... That is Tuesday, let me repeat... it is Tuesday! Luckily when it is handed in it is one less subject to stress about...
Fix up the mistakes, read the feedback, look at word count, BE the TREATISE...

Laser Cutting
The north campus engineering faculty invited us to come "play" with their laser cutting machines! hehe... very cool to laser cut your own model and it looks very neat. I laser cut my model...
laser cutting in motion... my little house is coming together:)
It is still a working progress, I still want to include the wall around my building, some vegetation and outside benches. I would also like to build my Snoezelen Room, to allow the experience of the textures, colours and light in the space.

the date...
Tomorrow is the first of June... Tomorrow is the month of madness... Tomorrow it is PORTFOLIO month... I am a little scared...

Ernesto Neto = Precedent Study
One of my precedents is an exhibition done by Ernesto Neto. He evokes all the senses in this interesting exhibition. Definitely want to visit his works someday.
People can lie down and touch, smell and feel the objects...
Neto experiencing his own work...
The exhibitions name is Gratitude.

Working on some more conceptual sketches...
Conceptual sketches... sketch, render, sketch, render....... to many colors around me... i do love being surrounded by colours! :)
The first image shows an idea for my bedrooms and lounge area. The areas gives a home like feel because the whole idea is that the people move from one home to the next. Multi-sensory stimulation is one of my theories and to experience this theory in my space, different materials must be included and various furniture pieces. Alzheimer patients is grateful for the idea of having options... options to choose on which chair to sit and what to do next etcetera. The third image is an idea for my chapel area. The round elements on the ceiling and the wall is a link to my name and logo.

Still Alice
Please do yourself the favour and watch this movie about a young independent, active, loving and well educated lady dealing with Alzheimer's. It is remarkable!!! mens raak net stil, stiller en uiteindelik op jou stilste....
